South Florida Divers Break Guinness World Record For Underwater Cleanup

On Saturday, June 15th, the Sun Sentinel published an article – 633 divers set world record cleaning ocean floor off Deerfield Beach. It is very cool that they broke a world record but the coolest part is that a total of 1,500 lbs of trash was cleaned out of the reef. This is something other cities should learn from and we would love to see these efforts organized more frequently.

CO2 Reaches All-Time Record Levels

CNN just put out a story titled There is more CO2 in the atmosphere today than any point since the evolution of humans. The article stated:

According to data from the Mauna Loa Observatory in Hawaii, the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere is over 415 parts per million (ppm), far higher than at any point in the last 800,000 years, since before the evolution of homo sapiens.

The article went on to describe just how bad life is going to be when the planet is only 2 degrees warmer then current temperatures. If you are paying attention we are already clearly seeing signs of this.

I suggest reading the full article. Perhaps the strongest point is the finish that stresses:

We are running out of time to avoid a world that we literally do not know how to handle.

I couldn’t agree more.
